Susan
Jensen (Ph.D. in Education), Owner, and Director of
The
Yoga Gateway,
including The Yoga
Studies Program (Therapeutic/RestorativeTeacher Training),
has Certification from The Yoga Studio of Calgary, The Yoga Centre of
Calgary, and Sun-Jeevan Yoga Darshan/Kabirbaug
Matha Sanstha, Dr. Karandikar's (M.D.) Restorative/Therapeutic
Yoga Institute in Pune, India. Dr. Karandikar was Mr. Iyengar's Student
and Medical Doctor for many years in Pune and wishes to acknowledge
the contribution Mr. Iyengar has made to the
Sun-Jeevan Practice.

To reduce stress and help
alleviate chronic hip pain due to a serious sports related injury in
her teens,
Susan began her yoga practice at The Yoga Centre of Calgary with David
McAmmond while completing her Doctorate at the U of C.
She
studied and practiced with David McAmmond and Dr. Karandikar intensively
for four months when Dr. Karandikar was in Canada to further her rehabilitation
and knowledge of the Practice. Because the Sunjeevan Yoga was truly
working, her one compelling thought was "If I can get 15 minutes
of freedom from the chronic pain, perhaps I can alleviate it altogether
or at least heal it to the best it can be."
Dr.
Karandikar's Sunjeevan Yoga continued to yield remarkable results, so
Susan travelled to his Institute in India (Kabir Baug)for more extensive
yoga therapy, instruction, and training. By the end of her training
course in Pune, Susan had alleviated her chronic hip pain altogether
by releasing her hip from the spasm it had been in for over 20 years--an
incredfible feat, especially considering that the alternative offered
by Western medicine had been to strengthen the area around the injury,
take pain killers, and go home as there is "nothing we can do for
you."
The
Yoga Gateway
was
founded to help others live more productive, satisfying lives. We offer
our fellow Calgarians and Canadians a range of yoga classes to suit
their needs as well as the Therapeutic/Restorative classes based on
Dr. Karandikar's Sunjeevan Yoga.
Namaste,
Susan &
